Dogs and Heat
BEAT THE HEAT, YOUR DOG WILL THANK YOU!
As many of you already know, we are avid lovers of our (and your) furry friends.
Your car in NOT a kennel
Uhhhh ohhhhh.... another self righteous piece on what's right for YOUR dog.
We come in peace
We don't profess to know your story
Yes, the best case scenario is not leaving your dog in a car, is that realistic?
Perhaps, you just came back from the dog park and ran into the local gas station to do your own business because it just couldn't wait... or, maybe... there are several reasons why you may have left your furry friend in the car for a short period of time.
Here are some suggestions:
For those unplanned "just gotta run in for a sec moments"
Consider getting sun shades across your vehicle's windshield
Park in the shade
Invest in a battery powered fan that can be secured between the car's window frame and closed window
If possible, travel with a human companion that is willing to hang out when you must leave
Leave a bowl (or two) or water for your pet. Alternatively, consider getting a water bottle (like the hamsters have) and hang it over your seat.
Post the time you left on your vehicle, add your cell phone number and place it a visible spot. You might get a few unwanted calls or texts but considering the options if you can't be reached it's a great alternative!
Truth is, I feel terribly guilty leaving my pup behind
How did I cure my separation anxiety?
Simply, by providing her with a peanut butter filled Kong when I leave
Next, I give her a piece of liver jerky upon my return
Ta da! It took a few times but we got the hang of it!
